Dahlia in Our Garden

Meet Dahlia. Dahlia's family has been on our Watch My Baby Grow Program for the past year. I have had the pleasure of watching her grow from a brand new baby to a happy and joyous toddler.
We decided to work with her at our outdoor studio. The garden is wild with bloom right now with lots of zinnias, but sadly no dahlias. for our Dahlia..... She loved the carousel horse. I loved her poof skirt! I am thinking of getting one for myself!

Back From Vacation!

Our family vacation was a little different that most families. We went to Burning Man! Most people are familiar with Burning Man through what they hear and read about in the news. The impression is drugs and no rules as the prevailing influence. You have been sadly misinformed!!!

It started off with a few people in the 80's, word spread and now families and people from all ages and all walks of life go for a truly different camping experience. Corporations actually send their key people to help them learn to think outside the corporate box.
This year it was attended by over 50,000 people from all over the world. It is a big party and everyone is there to have fun and contribute their creativity in some way. It is a a physical challenge because of the extreme conditions. (8 hour sandstorms are no fun!) There is no water, no power. You must bring your own supplies. It is also a no money zone, there are no waiters, taxis or vendors to buy from or tip. You are on your own. Very stress free.

We enjoy photographing the art. It has given me the opportunity to photograph in conditions I would never try. Of course it inspires my creativity in my beloved career.
The art is typically placed on the desert floor. Structures range from small pieces to large 50 ft high buildings. Some is burnt at the end of the week and some is taken back to the world to share with others at another place and time. Sometimes the art is displayed as an art vehicle, with that many people, you can imagine how much space that takes up, you need a way to get around. Although most people ride their bicycles This year I saw a spider about the size of 3 cars, walking across the desert walking on hydraulic legs. Awed and amazed are the only words to describe it!
We created an art car that is now a legend. google= omar kabish the fish for a picture of it online.
Yep that's me riding it!
Burning Mans' contribution to the world of art can't be measured. It is beyond belief!
